the effect

The pharmacological effect of Stellanin is expressed in a regenerative effect when the active substance comes into contact with a wound on the skin surface. This drug inactivates protein compounds contained in the bacterial wall of pathological microorganisms, and also negatively affects the enzymatic proteins of the bacterial flora. This is the active bactericidal effect. Stellanin in every possible way protects the existing wound from the development and layering of the infection. It quickly suppresses the occurrence of any infectious process, thereby contributing to accelerated healing damaged tissues.

Usually, at the second stage of development of the wound process, when active tissue regeneration occurs in the body, the use of drugs characterized by a high osmotic effect ultimately leads to a sharp negative result. There is overdrying of the renewed skin, which appeared due to the developing processes of regeneration. But "Stellanin 3%" has enough low level osmotic potential. This property is the reason for the formation best conditions for the development of granulations - it occurs simultaneously with the suppression of pathological microorganisms, thereby providing protection against secondary infection of the wound surface. Vaseline, which is part of the drug, covers the wound with a kind of film, which additionally protects the damaged area from possible negative effects of environmental factors. And glycerin, in turn, softens the wound, moisturizing it. All components of the drug provide a combined anti-inflammatory, regenerative and antibacterial effects.

It is also important that the active ingredient of the drug in question is not completely absorbed into the bloodstream - and even when the drug is applied directly to the damaged areas of the epidermis.

Composition and pharmacological action of Stellanin ointment

One hundred grams of ointment contains 3 grams 1,3-diethylbenzimidazolium triiodide- the main active ingredient. The ointment also contains auxiliary components - dimexide, povidone and polyethylene oxide.

The pharmacological activity of the drug Stellanin is explained by the properties of 1,3-diethylbenzimidazolium triiodide:

  • Active diethylbenzimidazolium iodine inactivates the enzyme proteins of bacteria and the proteins contained in the walls of these microorganisms, which provides a bactericidal mechanism of action.
  • Osmotic potential, that is, the ability to draw liquids. This property of the ointment is used in the healing of wounds with purulent discharge.
  • Acceleration of physiological regeneration of damaged tissues. The study of the drug showed that applying the ointment increases the number of fibroblasts in the wound by 7.5 times.

The use of the ointment prevents infection of the wound surface, which allows you to bypass the stage of inflammation. This leads to the fact that the wound quickly heals and the acceleration of the process of cell regeneration does not allow the formation of scar tissue.

Stellanin PEG ointment, as well as regular Stellanin, does not have a systemic effect. The components of the drug do not penetrate into the general circulation even if the drug is applied to an open wound surface. Despite this, at the site of application, the therapeutic effect persists for a long time.

Stellanin ointment for bedsores is used three times a day. It helps to cope both with the initial forms of bedsores, and in cases where trophic changes have already affected the deep layers of the skin. Simple Stellanin is prescribed for the treatment of non-purulent bedsores, Stellanin-Peg for the treatment of pressure sores with purulent discharge.

If it is necessary to treat an extensive wound surface, 10% lidocaine is used to reduce pain at the time of dressing, this drug can be either in the form of a spray or in the form of a conventional solution. For the treatment of skin lesions, doctors often prescribe the pharmaceutical agent Stellanin.

The drug is produced in the form of a brown-brown color ointment with an unexpressed peculiar smell of iodine and has antiseptic, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory, regenerating, wound healing, antimicrobial, epithelizing and antioxidant properties.

The liniment created by Russian scientists has an exceptionally balanced complex composition, which provides all the therapeutic qualities of the drug and contributes to the speedy recovery of damaged skin. Ointment is widely used in dermatological and surgical practice. Reviews of patients and specialists about this pharmaceutical product are mostly positive.

Composition and form of release

The active active compound of the 3% ointment is 1,3-diethylbenzimidazolium triiodide. 1 g of the drug contains 0.03 g of the medicinal component. As excipients the composition of the ointment contains glycerin, povilone, vaseline medical polyethylene oxide.

Upon contact with the skin at the point of application of the drug, it is released active iodine, which inactivates proteins entering the cells of bacterial agents and microbes, thereby exhibiting a bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect. Streptococci, staphylococci, Proteus, Candida fungi and many other pathogens of skin diseases are sensitive to the effects of 1,3-diethylbenzimidazolium triiodide.

Characterized by a fairly broad spectrum of antibacterial activity, Stellanin protects wound surfaces from infection and eliminates inflammatory processes caused by pathogenic agents sensitive to the components of the ointment. Due to the cleansing of the wound from microbes, there is a rapid epithelialization and the speedy healing of damaged skin areas.

Stellanin and Stellanin-PEG

The ointment is available in aluminum tubes, packaged in 20 gr. There are 2 forms of release of the product on sale: Stellanin and Stellanin PEG.

Their use can significantly reduce the recovery time for burn disease (up to 20%), and also reduces the amount of surgical intervention with autodermoplasty. current chemical compound in both preparations it is identical, the difference is made by the auxiliary components of the ointment.

  1. Stellanin PEG is used in the first phase of the wound process and for weeping wounds. Due to the present osmotic (drying) effect, which is provided by additional components of the product, there is an intensification of cleansing and activation of epithelialization processes, and active iodine destroys pathogenic microflora.
  2. Stellanin original on a hydrophobic basis is intended for use in clinical practice in the treatment of wounds in the third stage of the wound process, and for dry wounds. In this therapeutic form, auxiliary ingredients enhance regeneration processes and exhibit minimal osmotic properties. Having a low drying potential, the ointment, when applied, creates favorable conditions for the growth and development of granulations. At the same time, the activity of microorganisms remaining at the site of injury is inhibited and secondary infection of the wound surface is prevented.

Ointment Stellanin: indications for use
