Description of tablets egilok. Egilok is an effective antihypertensive drug. At what pressure to take the medicine

Beta-blockers are multidisciplinary - they are used not only to reduce blood pressure but also in improving the overall functional state of the heart and blood vessels. A modern drug is Egilok, which is excellent for a number of heart diseases.

What kind of medicine is Egilok?

Egilok tablets are produced by Egis-Rus (Hungary) and are included in pharmacological group beta-blockers cost 140 rubles for 30 pieces with a dosage of 100 mg. The composition contains metoprolol - a cardioselective beta-blocker - in the form of metoprolol tartrate (made on the basis of tartaric acid salts). Also on sale you can find tablets with a dosage of 25 and 50 mg in packs of 30 and 60 pieces.

List excipients looks like that:

Active substance normalizes the work of the sympathetic system, which suppresses the force of its effect on the function of the heart. Metoprolol also fights arrhythmia by quickly lowering the heart rate and cardiac output. Against the background of such effects, blood pressure normalizes or decreases, and in any position of the patient and for a significant period. This is due not to a sharp, but a slow decrease in vascular resistance. At the same time, during the course of taking Egilok, the weight and volume of the left ventricle decrease, and its work is optimized. Other positive effects medicines:

Metoprolol gives fewer side effects than non-selective beta-blockers, has virtually no effect on insulin production, carbohydrate metabolism, and does not provoke attacks of a sudden decrease in sugar. After 1-2 years of taking the drug also regulates cholesterol levels.

Indications and contraindications

Egilok is widely used in different forms ah hypertension. It may serve as the sole drug of choice or be involved in complex therapy hypertension. Also, an indication for the use of Egilok tablets can be considered angina against the background of coronary artery disease. The medicine reduces the frequency of attacks, reduces their severity, treats asymptomatic forms of pathology, and optimizes performance.

With a heart attack, the remedy has also found application - it seriously reduces the mortality rate, since it prevents ventricular fibrillation.

Egilok is taken almost immediately after a heart attack in complex treatment, also shown in late stage acute violation of the coronary circulation.

The remedy shows especially good results in patients diabetes(with a heart attack compared with other drugs). In addition, the early start of taking the pills reduces the risk of a second heart attack. Other indications of Egilok:

The medicine has a number of important contraindications. It should not be drunk with allergies, intolerance to metoprolol or all beta-blockers, with AV blockades of 2-3 degrees, reduced rhythm (less than 50 beats), weakness of the pacemaker. The drug is also prohibited in such cases:

With caution, therapy is carried out for diabetes mellitus and any type of bronchial asthma, COPD, myasthenia gravis, and other types of heart blockade. Also, a strict setting of how much and how to drink the remedy, regular examinations will be needed for patients with Raynaud's syndrome, renal failure, psoriasis. The use of Egilok during pregnancy is possible for health reasons, but, in general, is not recommended. This is associated with the risk of respiratory depression, bradycardia in the newborn. Also, within 2-3 days from the moment of birth, in children whose mothers received Egilok treatment, sugar and pressure indicators are assessed.

Egilok's instructions

According to the annotation, the tablets should be taken orally, the order of therapy does not depend on food. A pill with any dosage can be divided in half, it has a convenient risk. Initially, the minimum dosage is prescribed, which is then left the same or increased.

It is important to select the dose gradually to prevent a strong decrease in pressure and bradycardia.

Take no more than 200 mg of Egilok per day, or 2 tablets / 100 mg. Usually, with hypertension of the initial, middle stage, 25-50 mg in the morning and evening is enough. In a severe form of the disease, the dose is increased to 100 mg twice / day, or other drugs are added at another time or together with Egilok. Other recommendations for therapy:

With advanced renal dysfunction, the drug is not taken, in other cases of impaired renal function, the dose is normal. In case of liver damage, dose adjustment is also not needed, except in situations of severe liver failure or recent operations on the vessels of the liver.

Side effects

The drug is well tolerated by patients, but of moderate severity side effects quite common at the beginning of therapy. Some negative phenomena are observed further, or increase in severity, which forces Egilok to be replaced with another medicine.

Often tablets cause dizziness and a feeling of increased fatigue, less often - headaches.

The drug can reduce concentration, cause drowsiness during the day and insomnia at night. It can provoke convulsions, depression, hyperexcitability. The heart may respond with bradycardia and the development of hypotension, fainting, cold hands and feet, worsening of heart blockades, and arrhythmias are possible. Isolated cases of gangrene in patients with impaired peripheral circulation have been described.

On the part of the gastrointestinal tract, constipation, nausea, and dry mouth are often observed. Perhaps the development of various forms of allergic reactions, hair loss, exacerbation of psoriasis. Many patients experience cough, shortness of breath, and dry eyes.

Important Notes

When taking Egilok, it is important to regularly measure blood pressure, heart rate, and in case of diabetes, blood sugar. The dose of insulin, hypoglycemic agents for the period of treatment may increase. Other instructions for proper therapy:

When wearing contact lenses Dry eyes can cause discomfort. It is necessary to apply drops for additional moistening of the mucous membrane. Egilok is able to mask tachycardia caused by other diseases. Before any ongoing operation, you need to warn the doctor about taking Egilok, since the selection of special forms of anesthesia will be required.

Analogues and interaction

Among the analogues there are other drugs based on metoprolol, but some drugs include other components, so you cannot change the prescribed remedy yourself:

Egilok mutually enhances the effect of other antihypertensive drugs. More pronounced side effects develop while taking calcium channel blockers. Caution should be observed when combined with antiarrhythmics - there is a risk of developing bradycardia, heart blockade.

Defeat thyroid gland may affect performance of cardio-vascular system. In this case, the drug Egilok is needed, which minimizes the consequences of negative reactions.

pharmachologic effect

Develops hypotensive, antiarrhythmic, antianginal and beta1-adrenergic blocking stimulation. Causes a rapid decrease in contractions in the heart muscle.

In the case of sinus tachycardia against the background of hyperthyroidism and functional problems with the heart, as well as atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia, the drug can significantly slow down the heart rate until the sinus rhythm is restored.

Unlike non-selective beta-blockers, the effect of metoprolol on carbohydrate metabolism and insulin production is less significant.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The drug has high speed absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Within 1.5-2 hours after ingestion, Cmax in blood plasma is reached. Under the influence of the active substance, the increased activity of the sympathetic system in relation to the heart is suppressed. From what tablets Egilok with regular use cause a decrease in cholesterol levels in the blood serum. The bioavailability of the drug increases by 30-40% if metoprolol is taken with food.

The impaired function of the kidneys and liver has practically no effect on the excretion and absorption of the active substance. However, with severe liver dysfunction (cirrhosis, portocaval shunt), bioavailability increases significantly, and with chronic renal failure, the risk of unwanted side effects increases. In old age, the pharmacokinetics of the drug does not change significantly.

After use, the drug passes the full degree of absorbability. Egilok has a weak binding to proteins in the blood plasma (no more than 10%). The drug is excreted from the body mainly in the form of metabolites, only 5% is excreted by the kidneys.

Indications for use Egilok

  • prophylactic prevention of migraine attacks;
  • high blood pressure;
  • impaired functional cardiac activity;
  • angina;
  • disturbed heart rhythm (supraventricular tachycardia and bradycardia with ventricular extrasystoles and atrial fibrillation);
  • myocardial infarction.

Indications for the use of tablets also apply to people over 60 years of age.

Instructions for Egilok Retard and Egilok: the dose is divided into two doses per day, morning and evening.

Instructions for Egilok C: take 1 time per day, in the morning.

How to take (the final dose size and number of doses) the medicine is determined by the doctor individually. Maximum dose 200 mg. With impaired renal function and with advanced age, redistribution of the volume of the drug consumed is not required.

  • Heart failure with compensation: 25 mg per day.
  • Hyperthyroidism: 50-200 mg per day.
  • Arrhythmia: 50-200 mg per day.
  • Angina pectoris: 50 mg per day.
  • Migraine attacks (prevention): 100-200 mg per day.
  • Tachycardia: 50-200 mg per day.
  • Myocardial infarction (secondary prevention): 200 mg per day.

Overdose

Excessive and inconsistent with the doctor's use of the drug leads to an overdose, the most obvious symptom of which is a reaction from the cardiovascular system: slowing of the pulse, heart failure. In some cases, when using the medicine by persons under 18 years of age, it is also possible backlash from the side of the central nervous system: increased fatigue, the occurrence of convulsions, excessive sweating, the onset of fatigue.

General symptoms: apnea, impaired consciousness, tremor, bronchospasm, vomiting, hyperkalemia or hyperglycemia, worsening of renal activity, asystole, a marked decrease in blood pressure.

In case of an overdose, one or more of the above symptoms occur within 20-120 minutes, depending on the characteristics of the organism. A high concentration of metoprolol in the body, depending on the nature of the symptoms, is eliminated by gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy, the appointment of adsorbents, atropine sulfate, gluconate, dopamine, norepinephrine.

The use of the drug Egilok with other medications

List of prohibited drugs simultaneous use wide with Egilok. Therefore, it is necessary to combine this drug with third-party medicines with special care.

When mixed with verapamil, it can cause cardiac arrest.

When mixed with beta-blockers (estrogens, theophylline, indomethacin), the hypotensive property of metoprolol decreases.

When mixed with ethanol, the pumping effect on the central nervous system is enhanced.

When mixed with oral hypoglycemic drugs and insulin, the likelihood of hypoglycemia increases.

When mixed with barbiturates (pentobarbital), under the influence of enzyme induction, the metabolism of metoprolol is accelerated.

Concor or Egilok - which is better?

The exact answer can be given only with an individual examination. However, in general, Concor has slightly fewer side effects compared to Egilok, and its use with a low pulse in more admissible. Egilok has a stronger drug effect compared to Concor.

Egilok and alcohol

The interaction of the drug with alcohol-containing substances leads to sharp decline blood pressure, which in turn can lead to cerebral hypoxia. So, possible: weakness, dizziness, loss of consciousness. In case of refusal medical care and with strong concentrations of metoprolol and alcohol in the body, energy resources in the brain are depleted, which can lead to tragic consequences.

Egilok during pregnancy and lactation

Due to the lack of comprehensive information on the conducted therapeutic studies regarding the effects of metoprolol on the embryo, it is allowed to include the drug during the treatment period only in one case, when the benefit to the pregnant patient is considered higher than the risk of harm to the fetus.

However, the drug is often used during pregnancy, but in no case in the first trimester and not during lactation and breastfeeding. The size of the dose and the frequency of taking are determined strictly individually. Among those who have tried the drug, there are reviews during pregnancy. As a rule, those women who followed the doctor's recommendations during the course of taking the medicine did not experience discomfort, but, on the contrary, their cardiovascular condition improved.

Instructions for use recommends a drug for children with high blood pressure (because the drug causes a decrease in performance) for children over 6 years old; the dose depends on the weight of the child.

Important! The dosage and duration of treatment is determined by the doctor!

The usual initial dosage is 0.5 mg/kg of body weight 1 time per day, but not more than 50 mg per day. The physician may increase the dosage to 2 mg/kg body weight, depending on the response of blood pressure to treatment. There are no data on the intake of more than 200 mg daily in children and adolescents.

Use by adults

The difference in the dosage of the drug in adults depends on the disease. Despite the fact that the instructions for the use of Egilok for the elderly (at what pressure it can be taken, how to use it) does not indicate the need to adjust the dose, as in the case of all drugs, an elderly person needs to control the intake. You should not take the drug constantly, breaks are needed during treatment. Cases of addiction have not been registered, but cardiologists warn that with constant use, Egilok ceases to help lower blood pressure and cope with heart problems.
