The product also has an immunostimulating effect. The advantage of the drug is that it can be used to treat children. The main indications are diseases of the upper respiratory tract. The medicine is used intranasally by injection into the nose. The drug has a pronounced preventive effect due to increased activity of specific immunoglobulins.

What is IRS 19

This is the name of a medicine produced in the form of a nasal spray and intended to treat inflammatory diseases upper respiratory tract. As a result of exposure to IRS 19, the local formation of antibodies of the class of secretory immunoglobulins type A on the mucous membrane of the larynx, trachea, nasopharynx and bronchi increases. The consequence is an increase in specific and nonspecific immunity. The antibodies formed are important not only for recovery, but also for the prevention of upper respiratory tract diseases.

Release form

The drug is available in only one form. It is a spray in bottles with a clear, slightly yellowish liquid. The solution is colorless, but has a faint characteristic odor. The bottle is a glass aerosol container with a volume of 20 ml. Each has a sprayer and a special nozzle. When spraying the drug, a fine aerosol is formed. The medicine must be stored strictly in an upright position. The optimal temperature is no higher than 25 degrees. Under such storage conditions, the shelf life of the drug is 3 years.

Composition of the drug

The basis of the drug are lysates - destroyed cells of various bacteria. 100 ml of medicine contains the following types:

  • Staphylococcus aureus, Moraxella catarrhalis;
  • Klebsiella pneumonia;
  • Acinetobacter calcoaceticus;
  • Haemophilus influenzae B-type;
  • Streptococcus pyogenes A-group;
  • Streptococcus dysgalactiae C-group;
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae (types 2, 3, 5, 8, 12);
  • Enterococcus faecalis, Neisseria subflava and perflava;
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae (types 1, 2, 3, 4);
  • Enterococcus faecium;
  • Streptococcus G-group.

In addition to the active ingredients, the composition of the product includes several auxiliary ingredients. They are substances from the following list:

  • glycine;
  • special flavoring based on nerol;
  • sodium merthiolate;
  • purified water.

Pharmacological properties and mechanism of action

The medicine belongs to the group of those with an immunostimulating effect and based on bacterial lysates. The main property is the strengthening of specific and nonspecific immunity. After spraying the spray, an aerosol is formed that envelops the nasal mucosa. As a result, an active immune response develops. It is conditioned local education secretory immunoglobulins A, which are antibodies. These substances prevent the strengthening and reproduction of pathogens on the surface of the mucosa.

Specific action

The medicine exhibits two types of action - specific and nonspecific. The first is to increase the synthesis of secretory antibodies IgA. They form a protective film on the mucous membrane. This happens already on the first day of use. various schemes treatment. The protective film prevents the attachment and further proliferation of infectious agents on the mucous structure of the respiratory systems.

Nonspecific defense response

Another response of the body to the use of this medication is nonspecific. It enhances the phagocytic activity of macrophage cells, increases the content of lysozyme, and the formation of properdin, which stimulate the synthesis of endogenous interferon. This leads to the fact that the production of immunotransmitters is summed up, and the immune response is more powerful.

After two weeks, the body’s immunological reaction is consolidated. For this reason, the immune response ceases to depend on the place of contact of the pathogen with the mucous membrane of the bronchopulmonary system. This means that the use of the medicine is not limited to the nasopharynx. The immune system stimulated completely from the lymphopharyngeal ring of the nasopharynx to the alveoli.

Indications for use

The main indications for the use of this medication are the treatment and prevention of diseases of the upper respiratory tract. Due to its ability to restore the immune response, the medicine is effective after illnesses that have developed due to infection by viruses. The product helps prevent chronic respiratory tract diseases. Other areas of application of the drug are:

  1. IRS 19 for adenoids in children. The drug promotes the production of antibodies to common pathogens of tonsil infections. In addition, the drug prevents respiratory diseases, which can cause enlarged adenoids.
  2. For the prevention of ARVI. Strengthening the immune system reduces the number of cases of respiratory pathologies.
  3. For the throat. This includes diseases such as tracheitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, laryngitis and pharyngitis.
  4. For rhinitis of viral bacterial and vasomotor type. The medicine is effective for both acute and chronic forms these infections.

Instructions for use

The medicine is indicated for intranasal use. One dose of the medication is sprayed by briefly pressing top part spray bottle. The dosage is determined by the specific disease and age of the patients. IRS 19 children are allowed from 3 months of age. For preventive purposes, the dose of the medicine is slightly less. Spray the spray into each nostril. In most cases, the course is continued until the symptoms of the disease disappear, unless otherwise indicated by a specialist.

  • with such a blockage, you need to make several presses - under high pressure the mouth will be cleared;
  • If the blockage persists, you need to hold the nozzle in warm water for a couple of minutes.

Dosage for preventive purposes

To use this drug to prevent any respiratory tract infections, it is necessary to take a course of 2 weeks. Every day, 1 dose of spray is injected into each nasal passage. This is shown for both adults and children. The procedure is repeated 2 times a day. Treatment therapy should be started 2 weeks before the expected epidemic of respiratory or other pathologies of the upper respiratory tract.

Instruction IRS 19 for acute and chronic respiratory tract infections

Spray dose in case of treatment of acute and chronic infections respiratory tract is different for adults and children. Babies aged 3-36 months are prescribed one injection into each nostril 2 times every day. Before the procedure, it is necessary to clear the nasal passages of mucus. Treatment continues until the symptoms of the disease disappear completely. For older people, one dose is prescribed in each nostril with a frequency of up to 2 times a day. Therapy also continues until signs of pathology are completely eliminated.

When restoring local immunity

If the purpose of using the spray is to restore local immunity after suffering viral diseases. In this case, it is necessary to inject 1 dose into both nostrils. Injections are repeated 2 times throughout the day. The course of treatment should last at least 2 weeks. The indicated dosage is indicated for any age category, but not younger than 3 months.

In preparation for planned surgical interventions

Another indication for use this drug is recovery in the period after surgery and preparation for planned surgery. The dosage is the same for children and adults. IRS 19 throat spray can be used in children older than 3 months. Thanks to its innovative method of biotechnological lysis and excellent tolerability, the drug does not have any negative effect on babies. Pediatrics uses this medicine to treat any inflammation of the nasopharynx, nose and paranasal sinuses. The most common indication is adenoids, a common occurrence in young children. If you start treatment with a spray on early stage, then you can do without taking antibiotics. Symptoms of adenoids are:

  • redness of the throat;
  • pain when swallowing;
  • heat;
  • general intoxication of the body.

Side effects

Although the spray, judging by the reviews and opinion of Dr. Komarovsky, is well tolerated, sometimes after its use there may be side effects. You should consult a doctor if you experience the following reactions from different organ systems:

  1. In relation to digestion: diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain.
  2. Allergic reactions: urticaria, Quincke's edema.
  3. From the outside respiratory system: sinusitis, nasopharyngitis, laryngitis, cough, bronchitis, asthma attacks.
  4. Skin reactions: eczema, erythema nodosum.
  5. Other disorders: hyperthermia without good reason.

Temperature increase

Rarely, at the beginning of treatment, the temperature may rise for no apparent reason to a level of 39 degrees. A possible provoking factor is an overdose of the drug or its too frequent use, which is excluded by the instructions for use. The condition can only be improved by stopping the medication, but first you should simply reduce the frequency of injections. The doctor must make the exact decision, because the cause of temperature is often a disease of the ENT organs.

Increased frequency of attacks in bronchial asthma

If the spray is prescribed to patients with bronchial asthma, then an increase in attacks is possible of this disease. If the incidence of bronchospasms increases, treatment should be discontinued and other drugs in this category should not be used. Special attention should be given to children suffering from bronchial asthma. When using the spray, you need to monitor the condition of the small patient.

Contraindications of the drug

The drug does not affect the control of machines and mechanisms and driving a car. Its good tolerability did not ensure complete absence contraindications. You cannot be treated with this spray in the following cases:

  • autoimmune diseases;
  • less than 3 months old;
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding.

During pregnancy and lactation

According to the instructions for use, the spray is not used to treat diseases of the upper respiratory tract in pregnant and lactating women. The reason is that there is no reliable data on the use of the drug in these categories of patients. An exceptional case is only the prescription of a doctor, who may consider that the remedy will bring more benefit than potential harm.

Analogue

The closest systemic analogue is Imudon, which is also based on bacterial lysates. The only form of its release is tablets for oral administration. In addition to the main component, Imudon contains excipients: magnesium stearate, lactose, glycine, povidone. The advantage of the medicine is that it is approved for children over 3 years of age. Compared to the spray, which can be used in 3-month-old babies, this can be considered a disadvantage. Other analogues of the drug with a price from the same category:

  1. Derinat. Release forms: drops, spray, solution. The drug is a natural immunomodulator. The basis is sodium deoxyribonucleate. Treatment and prevention of diseases is carried out with drops or spray. The medicine is approved for infants.
  2. Ribomunyl. The basis is not lysates, but bacterial ribosomes. This part of the cell contains genetic information about the microorganism. The mechanism of action also involves inducing an immune response. Release forms: tablets, granules for solution preparation. For children, the product is approved from the age of six months. The course of treatment can range from 1 to 6 months.
