The history of the Semey Medical University began on September 1, 1953 with the opening of the Faculty of Medicine, which enrolled the first 320 students. Historically, the Regional Clinical Hospital was established on May 30, 1951 by the decision of the Semipalatinsk Regional Executive Committee No. 463-17 on the basis of the Physio-Institute, Surgical and Eye Hospitals.
